KYIV, Ukraine (GBT) — The website of the State Archival Service of Ukraine is down following last night's invasion by the Russian military. The outage is among many to have been reported across the nation, including those of several Ukrainian government agencies and media outlets. Data Centre Dynamics, Ltd., has reported that "the public-facing websites of the Cabinet of Ministers, Security Service of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada legislature, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were brought offline by DDoS attacks on the 23rd, according to Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications." Kyiv Internet traffic was also reported to have dropped 60 percent over the course of the day.
The website of the Mykolaiv Oblast Archives, which operates as under a subdomain of the State Archival Service website, is also down. An online index of vital records posted by the Routes to Roots Foundation has led Anflick family history research to the Mykolaiv Oblast Archives, where several original vital records, including Simon Anflick's death certificate and Louis Anflick's birth certificate, are presumed to be stored.
The archives has not yet responded to an English language e-mail, sent on the 23rd of January, requesting information about accessing the records. ⬮
