JENKINTOWN, Pennsylvania (GBT) — A document likely to be Minnie Snyder's immigrant passenger list was discovered yesterday afternoon AncestryLibrary. The document was indexed under the name Mincze Schneider, and shows her departure from the port of Bremen aboard the SS Prinzess Alice on the 8th of June 1907, and her arrival at the port of New York some two weeks later on the 20th of June.

The document also shows that passage was paid by her uncle, Hyman Cohen, who resided at 228 N. Darien Street at the time, and that Minnie intended to join her uncle there upon disembarking. Mr Cohen is presumed to be a brother of Minnie's mother, Eva Cohen. A David Cohen also resided at the same address, according to Philadelphia City Directories, which are also available on AncestryLibrary.

Blitzstein Bank records available from the Temple University Libraries Digital Collection show that costs of the voyage were shared between Hyman Cohen and Harry Greenfeld of 123 New Street. Mr. Greenfeld's relation to Hyman and Minnie is still under investigation. Payment was sent to "Walke Toiber, m. Jaltuschkow, us. Mogelew, gub. Podalsk". The city is now known as Mohyliv-Podilskyi, and is in the present-day Ukraine. Minnie's mother, Eva, appears to have used the surname Tober on some documents.

Also still under investigation is what became of Hyman and David Cohen in the years following Minnie's arrival. The United States Census shows different people occupying 228 N. Darien St. by 1910. Minnie Snyder married Henry Anflick in January of 1909. They went on to raise seven children, including Bobbe Anflick Smerican, Morris Anflick, and Perri Anflick Mercer.  ⬮
