Description
We start the new year with three fantastic discoveries! The burial locations of three lost souls have either been discovered, or have had progress made toward their discoveries. The death certificates of Elizabeth Attwood Hawkins (d. 1909) and Selma Anflick (d. 1933) each report a cemetery of burial, but at each of the reported cemeteries the records of their burials had gone missing. Thanks to the digital transcription efforts of the Jewish Genealogical and Archival Society of Greater Philadelphia and JewishGen.org's phonetic search capabilities, the location of Selma Anflick's final resting place has been discovered. Although Elizabeth Attwood's final resting place remains at large, FamilySearch's new and experimental Full-Text Search feature has led me to West Philadelphia's Frankenfield funeral home records, which were transcribed by the Daughters of the American Revolution in the mid-1960s. Finally, FamilySearch's Full Text Search has revealed the final resting place of Goldey Schachter, in a book about the history of the Jews of Richmond, Virginia, that was published in 1917.
