Description

I apologize for the extreme lateness on this one. This is actually April's podcast, recorded on May 11th, and edited last Saturday, May 24th. I don't even really remember what I said I'd link to in the show notes! The gist of the episode is that I had a lot of fun with maps last month, from handling an original circa 1790 map of Hempfield Manor in West Hempfield Township to experimenting with the latest in free cartography technology with QGIS.

The ultimate goal of all this mapping is to prove the Hogendobler lineage through land records, from Catherine Hogentogler Kline, born to Joseph and Mary Hogendobler in 1813, to her grandfather, John Hogendobler, who was born in Basel, Switzerland, in 1745. This research is planned to be included in my application to the First Families of Pennylvania lineage society.

Spoiler alert! It does work, but the details were not discovered until after I recorded this podcast episode on the 11th. Recording May's podcast before the end of May seems unlikely, but you'll learn those details whenever I get to recording them!
